These developments come after statements by Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior, who stressed the need to “rethink everything” following the loss. This increased pressure on Dorival, who was not the CBF’s first choice when appointed, but rather came after previous attempts to bring in other coaches since the 2022 World Cup failed.
According to Globo Esporte, there is dissatisfaction with Dorival’s performance within the CBF, especially with the national team’s drop to fourth place in the South American qualifiers behind Argentina, Ecuador, and Uruguay, and the team’s conceding four goals against Argentina, an unprecedented feat in the qualifying campaign
