Barcelona opened their campaign in the 2024/25 Spanish League season with a hard-fought win over their rivals Valencia on Saturday evening.
The Mestalla Stadium hosted the match between the two teams in the first round of the Spanish League, where Barcelona won 2-1.

The 14th minute witnessed an attacking attempt by Valencia, which almost ended in a goal for the home team, before the ball hit Barcelona player Coparsi and went out of the field.
Player Raphinha almost scored a wonderful goal for Barcelona, but the Valencia goalkeeper brilliantly saved it, preventing the Brazilian from scoring.
Goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen had the opportunity to shine in the 21st minute, after he prevented Valencia from scoring a certain goal as he saved a dangerous shot on his goal.
A chance from Valencia’s Duro passed safely past Barcelona’s goal, before the assistant referee raised the offside flag in the 41st minute.
In the 44th minute, Duro managed to score the first goal for Valencia, after he headed the ball into Ter Stegen’s net.
The referee decided to cancel the goal due to an offside, but the video technology confirmed its validity, leaving Barcelona behind in the score before the end of the first half.
Casado almost scored the equalizer for Barcelona before the end of the first half, but Valencia’s defense managed to clear the ball in a brilliant move.
Coparsi managed to prevent Valencia from scoring the second goal in the first half’s stoppage time, after a mistake by goalkeeper Ter Stegen.
Barcelona did not want to leave the field for the break while they were behind, as Robert Lewandowski managed to score the equalizer in the last minute of stoppage time.
The goal came after a cross that reached Lamine Yamal, who passed the ball to Lewandowski, who shot it directly into the net, to equalize Barcelona before the end of the half.
At the beginning of the second half, Barcelona got a penalty kick after Raphinha was obstructed inside the area, in the 47th minute, and Lewandowski successfully executed it, turning it into a second goal for him and his team.
Balde was unable to complete the match, as he was forced to leave in the 63rd minute, affected by the injury he sustained in the first half.
Barcelona tried in every way to score the third goal in order to eliminate Valencia’s hopes of a comeback, but that did not happen, so the match ended with the guests winning by two goals to one at the beginning of their journey.
It is worth noting that Barcelona will face its counterpart, Athletic Bilbao, in the second round of La Liga, at the “Montjuic” stadium next Saturday
