Spanish press reports revealed, on Monday, the latest developments regarding the future of Spanish star Nico Williams, the first-team player for Athletic Bilbao, and Barcelona’s offer to sign him this summer.
Since the beginning of the current summer Mercato, there has been great competition between a number of European clubs to acquire the services of the Athletic Bilbao winger, led by Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.
The Athletic Bilbao management refuses the departure of its star except through the penalty clause in his contract, which is worth 58 million euros, in addition to 4 million consumer price index tax.
In this context, the Spanish newspaper “Mundo Deportivo” revealed that there are concerns controlling Nico Williams about whether this is the right time for him to move to Barcelona or not.
The newspaper added that Flick and Laporta are in a state of constant tension due to the signing of this long-awaited deal, on which Flick is building many hopes next season with Barcelona due to the player’s quality and exceptional skill.
The newspaper concluded that the Spanish star was asked by those close to him to stay at Athletic Bilbao for another football season, and then move to Barcelona in 2025.
