Former Barcelona striker Thierry Henry chastised Ronald Araujo and Joao Cancelo after the club’s Champions League elimination to PSG
Araujo’s red card impacted the game after Barcelona had gone 4-2 up, and Henry was upset with the defender’s choice to attack Bradley Barcola
“Don’t dive in like that and make the decision for the referee,” he told CBS Sports
“You know if you’ll make it or not. So let him go, and hope your goalie saves it. Don’t give the referee the authority to commit what Xavi considers a mistake”
Henry also chastised Cancelo after the on-loan Manchester City player surrendered a penalty for a reckless charge on Ousmane Dembele
“If he [Cancelo] looks at this tonight, he’ll say, ‘Why did I tackle?’” he continued
“I can understand if Dembele was right in front of the goal and you thought he was going to shoot, so you dive in. He’s in the corner of the box!
“Even if he wasn’t caught and it went to VAR, VAR would have seen leg before ball, so you don’t even have to tackle that one; just hold your ground with him”
Henry also thought that Barcelona didn’t go on to surrender three goals due of Araujo’s red card but because “they began to panic” following PSG
