Neymar left Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2017, as the most expensive deal in the history of football, after paying the penalty clause in his contract at the time, estimated at 222 million euros
The Spanish newspaper, “El Paye”, revealed in a report that Neymar’s transfer to Barcelona from Santos, in the summer of 2013, during the era of former club president Sandro Rosell, could cause the Brazil striker to be imprisoned
The Brazilian company “DIS”, which owned 40% of the rights to sell Neymar during that period, filed a lawsuit accusing the player, his family and FC Barcelona of defrauding it, a case that has been going on for years
Although Barcelona admitted paying 57 million euros in total, the calculations of the Spanish judiciary confirmed that the total value of the deal amounted to 833 million euros
The Brazilian company, which received only 6 million euros from the deal, believes that Neymar and Barcelona hid the true value of the deal to steal its right, which made the company resort to the judiciary
Next October has been set as the date for the last hearing in the Barcelona court, which will also try the former club presidents Rosell (the president of Barca at the time of the deal) and Josep Maria Bartomeu (who was a deputy at the time)
The company accuses Rosell of defrauding Neymar, his representatives and the Santos team to conclude the deal without granting the Brazilian company its rights to sell the player.
It is noteworthy that the investigation into that case began a few months after Neymar was sold to Barcelona, in January 2014, due to a contradiction in some documents requested by the court
