Barcelona president Joan Laporta has stated that the club has no intention of selling Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong during the current summer transfer market
Laporta confirmed, during the presentation conference of Ivorian Frank Kessie: “Franke de Jong is a player in Barcelona, and we do not want to sell him, and we know that he has offers, but at the moment we will not sell him”
And he added: “The technical management is working to meet the coach’s requests, and I will not say how many deals we will make, but we are committed to strengthening the team”
While the Barcelona president confirmed that the Catalan club has not yet decided the issue of the continuation of the French wing, Osman Dembele, after the official end of his contract with the Blaugrana
“There is no specific date because we are currently in an unknown situation, we are working to strengthen the team, he is no longer a player in Barcelona, but we made a sports offer and the player’s agents responded, they did not reach the level we want, but they want to continue talking,” Laporta said
He added, “If Dembele wants to continue, he must accept our offer, no one expects Barcelona to rush into the transfer market”
Barcelona has not yet lost hope in trying to persuade Dembele, 25, to continue, especially with the administration facing difficulties in contracting Leeds United winger, Brazilian Rafinha
Dembele joined Barca in the summer of 2017, from Borussia Dortmund
