Manchester United have not forgotten Frenkie de Jong and will try to sign him at all costs this summer. The Barça midfielder is the great objective of the new coach Erik ten Hag to reinforce the squad of the ‘red devils’ and from the English club they will spare no effort to take the Dutchman to Old Trafford.
Ten Hag knows De Jong perfectly from his time at Ajax and hopes to be able to convince his former pupil with a succulent contract that would make the midfielder the highest-paid player in the squad, not counting bonuses. This is reported by the ‘Daily Star’, which details that De Jong would earn a weekly salary of 395,000 pounds and would exceed the salaries of David de Gea (375,000 pounds/week), Jadon Sancho (350,000 pounds/week), Raphael Varane (340,000 pounds /week) and Cristiano Ronaldo (300,000 pounds/week). Converted to euros, De Jong would receive about 24 million per season at Manchester United.
It should be remembered that Erik ten Hag would have already spoken with Frenkie de Jong to explain the project he has in mind for Manchester United and the coach promised him that next season they will play the Champions League for sure, a competition that De Jong wants to continue playing in case of leave Barça this summer. The footballer would have rejected the first approach, but in the last conversation he would not have been so forceful and would not have closed the door to a possible change of scenery.
