Qatari Nasser Al-Khelaifi, president of Paris Saint-Germain, prevented Roma from playing the Joan Gamper Cup match against Barcelona, which was supposed to take place next August
Barcelona announced, two days ago, that Roma withdrew from playing the match without giving any reasons, which angered the Catalan team, and accordingly the club decided to take legal measures against the Italian team
But, according to the Italian newspaper, Corriere dello Sport, the reason for Roma’s withdrawal is Nasser Al-Khelaifi, who has a strong relationship with Roma and its president, Dan Friedkin
The newspaper pointed out that Al-Khelaifi asked the president of Rome not to play the match, given that Barcelona is one of the three clubs that are still continuing in the European Super League project
And there was strong news during the past hours, about the possibility of Milan playing the match instead of Rome
